President 2008-09 – Karen Henderson
Karen earned a BA in English Education and K-12 School Library Media from MSU in 2007. After a well-deserved vacation in Europe during the summer, she resumed her education at MSU working toward her MA, and teaching Eng 121. Karen’s literary interests focus on nonfiction, specifically the genre of autobiography and memoir, and she possesses a passionate interest in pedagogy and student achievement. Wherever the future finds her, it is sure she’ll be teaching. In addition to literature and teaching, Karen’s other passions are music, exercise, family and friends, and she is an indefatigable champion of the underdog.
Vice President 2008-09 – Joshua Johnson
Josh entered the MA program during the fall of 2007 and is perhaps the only TA at MSU with a Bachaelors of Science in English (rather than of Arts). His interests lie somewhere near the mythical influences behind perceptions of the book, workplace and organizational mythology, library policy and culture, blacksmithing, and pop culture. His extracurricular interests consist of collecting hobbies the way most people collect stamps or lone socks from the dryer and convincing his wife and daughter that they do indeed have a husband and father.
Secretary 2008-09 – Aspen Hougen
Aspen was born and raised in Bozeman and earned two BAs from MSU — one in English Lit and one in Media and Theatre Arts. Her main area of academic interest is in pre-Norman Conquest (Anglo-Saxon) poetry and history, especially the intersection of Anglo-Saxon culture and Christianity. Other literary fascinations are legion and encompass (among others) Medieval Christian mystics, noir mystery novels, golden-age science fiction, comics/graphic novels, and fan culture. Her non-literary interests include classic film, Broadway musicals, vintage fashion, Progressive Metal music (no, this is not a typo), and hats of all kinds.
