New Items

Ah, the summer lull. We know it and love it. Despite the inclination to sit on the porch with a mint julep in a white suit jacket, I’ve added a few things to the blog over the past couple weeks.

If you navigate your way to the Alumni page, you’ll find a profile of valiant club founder Brita Graham. I encourage the other officers, to e-mail me with a bio and photograph so that we can honor you on that page too. Please keep the bios under about 250 words (roughly as long as Brita’s) and make your photos at least two inches wide–in other words just send me a big ol’ photo and I’ll shrink it down to what we need.

Also, if you find your way to the alumni page, I have put my own profile up, along with a slightly smaller mugshot. Any and all alums should submit a similar biography and pic (see instructions in previous paragraph) and I’ll put post them–if you’re not comfortable doing it yourself. I would love not to be the only person on that page!

New Site

Welcome everybody to the new AEGS Web site. I’ve spent most of the morning getting it up and running and pretty much everything should be working. If it’s not, please let me know ASAP.

I’ve invited a few people to be contributors, mostly officers (old and new). If you accept the invitation, you will be asked to create an account on WordPress.com. That will give you a user name and password for this site. You can log in either through WordPress.com or through the “Meta” login link in the sidebar.

The interface is pretty simple, but I can always answer questions if needed. The default role for new users is “contributor,” which allows you to post items to the blog, which then require moderation by one of the admins. Right now, the only admins are Ryan and myself, but that can change if need be.

Let me know if you’d like your access privileges increased–say, if you’d like the ability to post without moderation. The rationale for keeping them at bare minimum is that it prevents bad things from accidentally happening to the inner workings of the blog.

Ryan and I have put together the two existing Gmail accounts into one: aegsofmsu@gmail.com. I’ll pass on that access information for that account to the president soon. I also invited a number of the officers to contribute to the AEGS Google Calendar. You can find a link to it on the Events page.

Brita would like to arrange screenings of Firefly, perhaps in the late mornings, starting next week. E-mail her if you’re interested.

The counts are in, and the next AEGS president will be Ariana. Jamie will fill the vice president spot.
